Record of Air Passenger Traffic in June: 16.7 Million

According to data declared by General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI): A record broken with 16.7 million passengers served at airports in Turkey in June. Compared to last Junes total air traffic: Domestic air traffic increased by 7.8% with 65,308, international air traffic increased by 8.7% with 61,093 which equals to increase in total air traffic by 8.2% with 126,401.

Turkish airspace overflight increased by 11.5% with 28,674. Number of flights increased by 8.8% with 155,075.

The 16.7 million passengers served by Turkish airports in June marked a 10.6% increase compared to last June, the General Directorate of State Airports (DHMI) said in a statement. While the number of domestic flight passengers rose 10.7% from June last year to reach 7.8 million, the number of international flight passengers saw a 10.5% increase, reaching 8.9 million.

Atatürk Airport, which consists 35% of Turkey’s flight and passenger traffic also broke an all time record by 1326 flights in a single day on June 27.

There was an increase at tourism heavy area airports as well. For 6 months period: Antalya, Izmir-Adnan Menderes, Mugla-Dalaman and Milas-Bodrum Airports domestic passenger number increased by 40% while international passenger number increasing by 22%. Antalya Airport, with 85% being international traffic, served 3,826,873 passengers. There was an all time record at Antalya Airport on June 28th with 981 landings/departures and 172,656 passengers served.
